I stayed in a room that had a balcony, and it was super cool! I loved being able to sit outside and enjoy the view. The tile/marble floor gave a fancy touch, and the bed linen was clean and comfy. As a low-budget traveller, I felt like I was treating myself!
The only thing I didn't really like was the room without windows. It felt a bit stuffy at times, but hey, I understand that some people might prefer it for a more cozy vibe.

The value for money at Islander was excellent, the room was clean and comfortable with a nice view of the mountains. The location was great, within walking distance to the markets, and the staff, especially Alex and Kate, went above and beyond to make us feel at home and provided us with fantastic advice on food.
The breakfast experience could have been improved with a wider variety of options.

Stayed at this fantastic place where I could relax, enjoy the bar and terrace, and have a fun chat with the host. Also, loved the complimentary WiFi and TV in the common area.
Oh, I just adore when hotels don't provide enough information on local attractions. Makes me feel like a detective trying to figure out where to go.

Alex and his girlfriend were incredibly helpful and sweet. They were always available to assist and even organized a fun night out for all the guests. The private room was comfortable and had a great view of the mountains. I loved that they had a tour desk right outside and I could easily book activities and tours. The location was quiet but still close to places to eat and the food market was just up the road. it was my favorite stay in Thailand!
Nothing 🙌

I recently stayed at The Islander for a week during my holiday in Northern Thailand. The hosts, Alex and Kate, were incredibly welcoming and knowledgeable about the area, making me feel at home. They helped me book last-minute tours and even arranged for a motorbike rental. The spacious and air-conditioned rooms were a comfortable retreat after long days of exploring. The hostel's location near the city center was convenient, and the host's local contacts made it easy to immerse myself in the best of Chiang Mai, from visiting the Elephant sanctuary to exploring Doi Inthanon. I highly recommend The Islander for a memorable and enriching stay.
I strongly recommend this hotel.

I had an amazing stay at The Islander in Chiang Mai. The host, Alex, was incredibly helpful in making my stay enjoyable. He went above and beyond to assist with tours, scooter rentals, and even helped me retrieve my card when I forgot it in the dorm. The free cookies, tea, and coffee were a nice touch, and there were plenty of showers and toilets available. The location was perfect, within walking distance of the old city and other attractions. The hostel was very clean, and I felt right at home. I highly recommend this place for anyone visiting Chiang Mai.

The staff was incredibly welcoming and friendly, going above and beyond to assist me during my stay. They were very knowledgeable about the area and provided great recommendations for things to do and see. the hostel itself had a lovely vibe, with a comfortable and clean dorm room. The location was also fantastic, just a 2-minute walk to the town center square.
I would have liked a full-length mirror in the dorm room, although there was a large mirror in the shower area which sufficed. This is just a minor detail, and I am being quite picky in mentioning it.
